How Yoga Can Greatly Enhance and Improve Your Sex Life

Lady in Yoga Position I was at one of my lingerie parties recently and overheard a couple of the ladies there having a discussion about Yoga. They were obviously in fantastic physical shape for which they credited their yoga classes. But what really sparked my interest was that they were talking about having more exciting sex with their husbands and they swore it was due to their Yoga workouts!

Since I am utterly fascinated by anything that can make sex more fulfilling (after all, it's my line of work), I decided I needed to do some research so that I could intelligently share it with other women at my parties and on my website. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found and can't believe that I hadn't run across this subject in the past. You can bet that I will be finding a yoga class to start attending or buy some home videos or something, but I can't wait to give it a try.

I've attended a few Yoga classes with friends in the past (many years ago), so I have a limited knowledge of the physical (and mental) benefits, but I had never thought about these benefits being "sexual" in nature. Now I understand how the two go hand in hand and I'm very excited to share these concepts.

Here are some of the highlights of how Yoga can give you more "spice" between the sheets (or maybe even on the Yoga mat). The left column lists a benefit that Yoga brings and the right-hand column tells you how that translates into better sex.

Yoga gives you strength (sexy, toned muscles) and better flexibility A strong, supple body allows the body to try out new, sexy positions without injury. If you've ever looked through a sexual positions book and thought you could never try those because you might pull a muscle or put your back out, now you don't have to worry.
Yoga improves your fitness/energy levels and reduces stress. The invigorating extra stamina you'll gain will have you "looking forward" to sex instead of feeling "too tired" or "too stressed out" to even bother thinking about it.
Yoga can highly improve your confidence and self-esteem. Yoga elevates awareness, appreciation and acceptance of your body. This harmony can give you a sexual confidence which is liberating and can lead to a more open attitude about all things sexual.
Yoga can improve your ability to sleep. If you have sleeping issues, a lot of times you feel exhausted. As a result, sexual desire goes out the window (it seems like too much work). A well-rested person has a more positive, excited outlook on sex.
Yoga makes you a more sensual being. Yoga makes you more cognizant of all the "physical sensations" in your body. It teaches you to "savor", enjoy and really experience every throb, shiver and tingle that happens during sex.
Yoga makes great foreplay. Teach your partner a few simple yoga moves and do them together. This can reduce the craziness of a hectic day, calm your nerves and help get the "mood juices" flowing. Yoga inspires creativity. Who knows? You might never make it up off your Yoga mats and into the bedroom.
Yoga can ease pain. If you (women) experience any type of hip and/or thigh pain and stiffness, it can affect your ability to be comfortable during sex. Yoga releases tension in this area which allows everything to work more effectively in your pelvic area. This brings you more freedom and control in your movements during sex.
Yoga can improve your orgasms! There are several Yoga poses that increase blood flow to and strengthen the pelvic area. In fact, your sexual "core" muscles (which connect to your sex organs) become stronger, enabling more powerful, intense orgasmic contractions and releases (who doesn't love that).
