Using Your Pelvic Muscle (Kegal) to Get the Bigger "O" More Frequently and Making it Completely Fabulous

Orgasm – What Exactly Is One?

When women have an orgasm what is actually happening to their body is that the muscles of the pelvic area contract involuntarily. This is usually following some type of enjoyable stimulation which brings a woman to the peak of sexual excitement. It’s a fact that the stronger these muscles are, the more power-packed your orgasms are going to be. In fact some women can even manipulate this muscle group to intensify their orgasms and sometimes to even bring an orgasm on! Understanding where these muscles are, how they operate and what to do with them can bring a whole new awareness to improving the levels of your orgasmic ability. You can become an orgasm machine!!

In fact, there's a spa in New York Called PHIT (Pelvic Health Integrated Techniques) that was started by Dr. Lauri Romanzi, who's a gynecologist that specializes in pelvic reconstruction surgery. She's a firm believer in "staying in shape" down there. Click Here to Read about Phit and Pelvic Muscles. It's fascinating.

You might have also heard of your pelvic muscles being referred to as Kegal muscles or PC muscles. PC stands for pubococcygeus (don’t worry if you mispronounce it – it’s a tricky word). The pelvic muscle group consists of eight muscles that all come together at the perineum (which is the area between your vaginal opening and your rectum). This is the area that sometimes tears during childbirth and needs an episiotomy. Vaginal muscles, urethral muscles and anal sphincter muscles are all included in this wonderful group of eight fabulous little muscles. I can’t stress enough that it’s very important for this muscle group to be kept strong and healthy. Here’s why:

  • First of all these muscles hold our internal organs inside our body (we don’t want these falling out – yikes!)
  • Second, strong pelvic muscles make is easier for a pregnant woman to carry and give birth to her baby. It actually aids in the healing process AFTER the baby is born as well.
  • Strong pelvic muscles help alleviate that “pee when you sneeze” syndrome.
  • The stronger our muscles are the “tighter” we can squeeze our male partners (what man does not love that?)
  • The stronger your pelvic muscles, the stronger your own orgasms will be.
  • Strong pelvic muscles can increase your sex drive (get ready to want to have sex a lot more often).

Okay, How on Earth Do I Strengthen My Pelvic Muscles?

By flexing/clenching them, holding for a few (2 to 4) seconds, and then letting go. This can be done at any time and anywhere. No one has to even know you’re doing it. It can be your sexy little secret. However, it helps to find a place where you can concentrate and take deep breaths while you’re doing the exercises (you’ll get quicker results this way). If you’re not sure exactly how to flex, it’s the movement your body makes when you stop your flow of pee midstream. Of course don’t make it a habit to stop your urine flow. It’s not healthy and can result in urinary tract infections. Just use the technique to find your Kegal “clench” movement.

If you’re not sure how many clenches to do, a good place to start would be with three sets of ten. Don’t get overly excited and overdo it the first few times. Remember what happens when you overdo the weights at the gym. Your muscles are really sore the next day. You don’t want to be walking around with sore pelvic muscles (ouch). As you’re flexing your muscles each time, think about squeezing a sponge with your vagina. Again be sure to breathe deeply and focus on what you’re doing. Start with the three sets of ten once per day and work up to 3 times per day. You’re doing it right now aren’t you? I love it!

Try clenching your partner during sex and watch his eyes light up. He’ll have fun and you’ll be doing something good for yourself. In fact, be sure to use your breath and hip movements to create a rhythmic motion that moves completely through your body. Think about breathing air into your lungs and vagina at the same time. Exhale and release simultaneously. Keep doing this and you just might find your body responding with an orgasm sooner than you had planned to have one which can be an exciting surprise.

There are also some amazing sex toys that can be used to virtually do “weight-lifting” with your pelvis muscles. I like these toys because they make your muscles stronger (and they get stronger even quicker) than just doing your Kegal exercises without weight. Your partner should notice a difference in your “tightness” within a matter of a couple of weeks if you use them correctly and diligently.

These wonderful Kegal exercise tools come in different shapes and sizes and usually are simply a personal preference. They can all be effective. On one end of the spectrum, there are the classic “Ben-Wa Balls” that have been around for a very long time. There are other types of fabulous Kegal balls (attached to a string) that have smaller balls inside to give you a subtle vibrating sensation while you’re wearing them (yes inside your vagina). There are also barbell-shaped toys that you use while lying on your back. They are inserted inside your vagina and you purposely clench or flex around them. You are literally lifting weights with your pelvic muscle group. Isn’t that exciting? Some women have told me that masturbating is even more exciting while they are inserted.

This video about the pelvic muscles is presented by Ducky Doolittle and is really interesting and informative. You’ll love her personal story as well. Enjoy and Happy Clenching!
